FAQs
Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our activities, safety, clothing, bookings and practical details. We keep things simple and clear so you know exactly what to expect before joining a safari.
If you don’t find the answer you’re looking for, please contact us — we’re happy to help and guide you to the right information.
Where are you located?
We operate in the Arctic Circle region, with Rovaniemi — the largest city in Finnish Lapland — as our home base. Our tours take place across the surrounding area, in locations we’ve chosen for their natural beauty and genuine local character.
What kind of winter experiences do you offer?
We offer guided winter activities in the Rovaniemi area, including Aurora hunting, snowshoeing, sledding, husky rides, forest skiing, ice fishing and snowmobiling. Availability varies by season and conditions.
How to Join Our Safaris?
We offer pickups from three locations: Rovaniemi city center, the Arctic Circle area, and the parking area at Vierustie 6. If you arrive with your own car, both the Arctic Circle and Vierustie 6 offer free parking.
When does your winter season start and end?
Our season begins in mid‑September, when the nights are dark enough for northern lights. It continues until mid‑April, covering the full winter and its changing conditions.
Are your safaris suitable for beginners and families?
Families are very welcome on our safaris. Most activities are suitable for first‑timers, and no previous experience is needed. The usual minimum age is 4 years. Some outdoor activities are marked as medium level due to small elevation changes, and our most demanding tours are reserved for adults.
What should I wear for your activities?
Some safaris include warm winter suits at no extra cost. All activities require appropriate winter clothing, and specific requirements are listed under each experience. Please dress according to the weather, as conditions can change quickly. On certain safaris we also provide places to warm up during the activity.
How cold does it get in Lapland — and how do we stay warm?
In our region, temperatures can drop to –35 °C or even lower. Typical mid‑winter conditions range between –5 °C and –20 °C. To stay warm during activities, we rely on proper winter clothing, campfires, fireplaces and heated huts. Our vans are fully equipped for Arctic conditions.
We recommend dressing in layers, using heating pads when needed and paying special attention to footwear. Local shops sell warmer insoles that can significantly improve your boots.
Will we see northern lights during the tour?
Auroras are natural phenomena, so sightings can never be guaranteed — but we do everything we can to maximize your chances. We use pre‑selected viewing spots and follow both aurora and weather forecasts to choose the best location each night. To avoid crowds, we use quieter areas and, when needed, private viewing places reserved only for our group.
How big are the groups on your experiences?
Our maximum group size is 8 people. This keeps the experience personal, peaceful and close to nature — just the way we locals like it. Small groups allow for quiet moments, flexible pacing and genuinely personal service throughout the safari.
Safety Measures
Safety is a top priority for us. Our team receives regular training, and all guides carry first aid kits. During every safari, we follow official safety guidelines as well as all local laws and regulations for moving in nature and on designated routes. We also ensure the safety and wellbeing of the animals involved in our activities.
What’s included in the price?
A detailed list of what’s included can be found under each experience. In general, our prices cover guiding services, transportation, and the equipment needed for the activity. Some safaris also include winter clothing and small refreshments, depending on the experience.
Are your guides local?
Our company is locally owned and operated — and the owner personally guides many of the safaris. This hands‑on approach ensures every experience reflects real Lapland life, with warmth, knowledge and authenticity.
Booking & Cancellation
You can book all experiences through our webshop, and each product page includes the full terms and conditions. In general, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the activity.
Due to safety regulations, we may need to cancel a safari if weather conditions make it unsafe to enter nature. This applies especially to aurora safaris, where visibility depends on the aurora forecast and cloud cover. If there’s no realistic chance of seeing the northern lights, we may cancel the tour or offer an alternative activity, such as snowshoeing.
Weather‑related or safety‑based cancellations are handled even on short notice. We always aim to find a better time if conditions force us to cancel, and all decisions are made with guest, staff and animal safety in mind.
Sustainability & Nature Care
As a local company, we deeply respect the nature around us and follow clear guidelines for operating responsibly in the wilderness. We never leave any waste in nature, and if we encounter wildlife during our safaris, we respect their space and keep a calm distance.
We plan our activities to minimize fuel consumption, and the same principles apply to our subcontractors. For example, we do not drive hundreds of kilometres in one night to chase auroras. Instead, we choose locations carefully and operate in a way that keeps our footprint small while still offering a meaningful experience.
Vegetarian Options
If the activity includes food, we can also provide a vegetarian option — for example during our BBQ. You can mention it when booking, but it’s not mandatory to request it in advance.
What languages do your guides speak?
The main language is english.
Photos and videos on Tour
Yes, we take photos during the tour — not only landscapes, but also real moments from the activity itself. You’ll get natural, in‑action photos of yourself enjoying the experience. We can also provide tripods when needed, and you’re welcome to use your own camera or an action camera such as a GoPro.
If You’re Late for Pickup
If you realise you’re running late, please contact us immediately. The phone number is shown on your ticket. We’ll try to find the best solution together. In most cases we can wait a short moment, but unfortunately not for very long, as we must keep the schedule for the whole group.
Animal Welfare
We work only with responsible local husky farms. The dogs’ wellbeing always comes first: they are well cared for, properly rested and never pushed beyond what’s good for them. All partners follow the same responsible standards.
